A Multiple-Associations Approach to Teaching Technical Terms in English for Specific Purposes Courses

Teaching and learning of technical terms constitute a major problem for ESP instructors students. To help the students learn, retain, apply relate terms, multiple-associations instructional approach that focuses on connecting printed form term with its pronunciation (the hidden sounds, double silent letters, homophones), part speech, singular or plural form, synonym antonym, English Arabic meanings, usage, component parts (prefixes, suffixes, roots), previously-encountered others should be followed while presenting new in business, computer science engineering to Categorization, association, visualization skills mnemonic approaches emphasized. Mind maps can used show those connections. Out class, extensive listening reading activities are also encouraged. Quizzes require make multiple associations described article.
